The Secret to Lasting Beauty: Nail Preparation Essentials

The Secret to Lasting Beauty: Nail Preparation Essentials

Posted by Paloma Team on

In the world of nail art, achieving the perfect manicure begins long before the first stroke of color is applied. Proper nail preparation using a dehydrator and primer as well as cuticle treatment are crucial for achieving long-lasting, durable, and beautiful nail enhancements. Let's delve into the significance of each step, blending science and artistry to ensure long lasting manicure and strong nails.

Why Nail Dehydrator is a Game-Changer

  • Restoring the natural pH level of the nail.
  • Cleansing the nail of impurities and oily residues from fingers.
  • Eliminating excess moisture on the nail plate, ensuring a strong bond for artificial coatings.

To apply a dehydrator correctly, it's best not to treat all nails simultaneously due to its short-lived effect (up to 30 minutes). For spray products, apply to a lint-free wipe and gently clean the nail, avoiding excessive contact with the cuticles and side walls. For bottle formulations, use a brush to apply a thin layer from the cuticle to the free edge, wiping off excess on the bottle rim first. It is possible to skip Dehydrator application, if your skin is really very dry.

The Magic of Primer

Primer works like double-sided tape: it lifts keratin scales on the nail surface and enhances their adhesion with the artificial material (base coat for gel polish), helping to firmly bond the base and the nail, especially on vulnerable parts like the free edge and side zones. It also:

  • Dries and disinfects the nail surface, reducing the risk of fungus or infection under the coating.
  • Removes particles and skin oil that the dehydrator might miss, without overdrying the inner layers.
  • Protects nails from the effects of acrylic, bio-gel, and gel polish compositions with caring components in its formula.
  • Increases the wear time of manicures without chipping, lifting, or cracking.

For proper primer application:

Apply a drop to the nail's center, then brush gently across the edges and center, avoiding skin contact.

Allow the product to dry thoroughly before applying the main material. There's no need to remove any residual dispersion.

Avoid more than 2 ultra-thin layers.

After drying (nails will become slightly matte and whitish), avoid touching the nails with bare hands.

We recommend to use Acid-Free Primer

For those working with natural nails, gel extensions, or before applying decorative gel polish, acid-free primer is essential. It's especially suited for home manicures, as it temporarily adjusts the nail's pH level without harm. Unlike its acid counterpart, this type of primer does not disinfect or dry out the nails, making it safe for regular use even on sensitive, weak, brittle, dry, and thin nails.

Paloma's Dehydrator and Acid-Free Primer are premium, safety-assured products, designed to deliver unparalleled, enduring elegance to your nails.

Prioritizing Cuticle Care

Cuticle maintenance is paramount, safeguarding against infections while ensuring a pristine base for nail art. Proper care includes softening, pushing back, and trimming excess cuticles, enhancing the manicure's overall aesthetics. Regular moisturization keeps cuticles and nails healthy, preventing common issues like hangnails and peeling.

In the journey towards perfect nail art, starting with the right foundation is key. By incorporating a dehydrator and the right type of primer into your nail prep routine, you're not just setting the stage for beautiful nail art; you're ensuring your nails stay healthy, protected, and stunningly adorned for longer.
